In the early 1980's, owner Cheryl Lyon designed a custom Christmas ornament as a favor to a friend. The friend liked the product so much, that she
told other people about Cheryl's work. Soon after, LDA Creations was born.
For almost thirty years, ACCTivate! customer, LDA Creations/Silver Lake Workshops has been producing and wholesaling custom decorated
gifts for their customers. Located on the edge of beautiful Silver Lake, the business and gift shop operate out of the renovated,
historic Silver Lake Mill.
Deb Propst, accounting manager said the company also hosts self-guided tours on the weekdays during retail store hours.
"Visitors to the mill expressed an interest in seeing the building renovations and curiosity about the business," she said.
LDA Creations makes customized designs for their customers on a wide variety of items. Types of products that the company customizes include:
ceramics and porcelain, blown glass ornaments, wood, glass and dinnerware. They also recently obtained exclusive licensing rights to manufacture
the Brandywine Woodcrafts line of products.
To begin the design process, customers simply need to provide an image of whatever they wish to have reproduced on a product.
The company is able to turn that image into a work of creative art.
Propst said the company offers custom china, awards and various other products. They also do a line of Salvation Army products.
She said the success of the company is contributed to word of mouth, trade shows and the internet. A significant percentage of their referrals
come though recommendations of customers.
Propst said the company prides itself in having excellent customer service and a quality end product. She said when a customer calls the company
they reach a live person, instead of an automated phone service.
"In our line of business word of mouth goes a long way and we want to make sure that we have customer satisfaction," she said.
LDA's growth has been at a steady pace, with their busiest time of the year happening during the fall season.
