ACCTivate! Presented at
Salt Lake City Conference

Salt Lake City – December 7 & 8 ACCTivate! was one of the main products presented to the Bybee Conference in Salt Lake City, December 7th & 8th, 2005.

This conference is an annual update for CPA's on small business software. Two tracks were presented: Intuit QuickBooks® and Microsoft® Office Small Business Accounting 2006.

Several hundred accountants and small business consultants from all over the United States attended.

Ron Souder, Alterity CEO, and Ken Parker, Alterity Vice President of Sales and Marketing, met with many conference attendees throughout the two day conference in order to familiarize them with ACCTivate! and its inherent ability to present advanced functionality to users of either QuickBooks or Small Business Accounting.

This conference again extended the reach of Alterity to the consulting and accounting community and increased the overall awareness of the ACCTivate! System.

Salt Lake City, the host city for the 2002 Winter Olympics and this conference, provided a beautiful backdrop after an early and light December snowfall.

Holiday lights and Christmas decorations could be seen at various places around town.

Two types of ACCTivate! Help:
Help Files & Knowledge Base

ACCTivate! users have two first-line resources for help
We know that the ACCTivate! system is powerful and robust. All the different features, options and configuration possibilities can leave some users feeling a bit overwhelmed at times.

Fortunately, we have put into play a couple of different options that are always available so that ACCTivate! users can get immediate help on technical and procedural aspects of ACCTivate!.

1) F1 Key – Open the ACCTivate! help files
From anywhere in the system, simply press the F1 key to open the help files. This includes all of the major windows in ACCTivate!, like the Sales Order window, Purchase Order window, Product Information window and more.

Most help screens have navigational elements to help you move to more general category-specific information or to specific tab information on a specific window.

Different types of Help Files
Several different sections of help files exist in the table of contents. These include Procedure Guides, How Do I?'s and Menu & Window screens.

·         Procedure Guides
Quick overviews of various processes that deal with how business is completed in ACCTivate!.

·         How Do I?
More focused and technical documents that walk you though specific tasks.

·         Menu & Windows
Quick overviews and explainations of every button, field and tab that is seen on any screen in ACCTivate!.

2) ACCTivate! Knowledge Base
The ACCTivate! Knowledge Base is an ever-expanding online system designed to provide solutions to technical problems that aren't necessarily procedural in nature.

These include issues such as software registration, Microsoft Windows operating system issues, network and hardware considerations and similar technical issues.

The knowledge base can be accessed by current ACCTivate! users from the help and online support section of the ACCTivate! website.

Quality Employees make us who we are!

Alterity, Inc. has some true talent on our staff
We're bursting at the seams with a diverse group of smart and talented people. Keeping up the tradition started in previous newsletters, here are sketches of two more quality employees.

Dave Huang
Dave began working for Alterity in 1993 working on a number of software development projects that were delivered and used by major international corporations.

In addition to that, he has also been involved in virtually every aspect of the ACCTivate! system since its inception and serves as our Senior Software Engineer.

This involvement includes everything from finding ways to increase system performance to taking the lead in developing the new EDI module. Dave is a key player in the development of just about every inch of ACCTivate!.

Dave was born in Baton Rouge, LA but grew up in Houston, TX. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of St. Thomas at the age of 14. A remarkable achievement!

He has also completed some coursework at the University of Texas in seeking a Master's degree in Physics. He resides near Austin, TX.

Randy Ramsey
Randy goes back a long time with Alterity, but has only recently come on full-time to assist with a variety of projects, most importantly the new EDI module as our EDI System Manager.

Before coming to work for Alterity, he has served as the Vice President of several software and technology companies. This includes being VP of Product Development and VP of Research and Development.

Randy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Computing Science from Texas A & M University and has completed graduate courses toward a Ph.D. in Computer Science from both Southern Methodist University and the University of Texas at Austin.

He and his wife live in Waco, Texas.
