Feature Story

Track inventory by warehouse locations

Don't just track by warehouse...track even further

Go beyond tracking inventory by warehouse and track your inventory by warehouse location. ACCTivate! 6.3, which will be released later this fall, will introduce the Multiple-Location Control add-on module that will do just that.

Would you like to see your inventory levels of a product in each location it is stocked? Well you will be able to when you add that capability to your base system. The Product Information window will show those details.

Multiple-Location Control capabilities

Once you enable Multiple-Location Control you will be able to:

  • Group bin locations by zones for inventory counts
  • Perform transfers from one location to another
  • View reports for warehouse locations
  • Receive products into specific locations
  • Sell products from specific locations
  • Set a primary location
  • Add locations on the fly

If this feature will meet your business needs contact your ACCTivate! sales representative for more details.

ACCTivate! installs include SQL Server 2005 Express
Existing users can decide whether or not to upgrade from MSDE 2000

ACCTivate! is now going to include SQL Server 2005 Express for all new installations, but existing users will need to evaluate it and decide if they want to upgrade from Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE).

SQL Server 2005 Express can be installed from an ACCTivate! CD (version 6.2.6 or later), but it will not be automatically installed from an ACCTivate! web update.

ACCTivate! has supported all editions of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database since January of 2007, but the ACCTivate! CD continued to include MSDE 2000.

SQL Server 2005 Express is a free version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005. ACCTivate! will continue to support MSDE 2000 along with SQL Server 2005 Workgroup and Standard editions.

SQL Server 2005 Express versus MSDE

In comparison to MSDE, SQL Server 2005 Express includes several enhancements. The maximum database size was increased from 2GB to 4GB. The "Workload Governor" has been removed, so there is no limit to the number of concurrent operations in SQL Server 2005 Express. The new SQL Server Management Studio has been included, which is a graphical user interface utility for managing the database server.

However, the amount of system memory (RAM) that can be utilized was reduced from 2GB to 1GB and the number of processors from two to one.

Customer Self-Service

Allow your customer to view their own account information online 24 hours per day

The Customer Self-Service module gives your customers the ability to view the status of their account, orders, invoices and payments through the Internet.

This module is designed to reduce the amount of interpersonal interaction needed to provide your users with basic account information. Instead of your customer service representative fielding calls or answering emails for routine information, your customer can get this information for themselves online.

  • Customers can view their account information anytime.
  • No need for customers to call into your office, they can get their account status online.
  • Reduce valuable customer service time spent on the phone answering basic account.
  • Establish a professional high-tech image.
  • All account information is pulled directly from the ACCTivate! database to provide your customer with a live look at their account status.
  • Customer Self-Service tags allow you to format the look and feel of the module to match your website.

How does it work?
Through a one-time setup and configuration, you place the ACCTivate! Customer Self-Service module files on your local server, which will then act as a webhost.

This is the same server that holds the Primary Installation of ACCTivate!. Contact your ACCTivate! representative and/or your web developer for more information and assistance.

Next, configure each company with a login and password. These are stored in the Customer Information Window inside ACCTivate! under the Credit tab as Self-Service Login and Password.

Standard Template or your own design
The ACCTivate! Customer Self-Service module comes with a standard design. However, your web designer can incorporate your own style into the module so it can look and feel similar to your website.

After this is done, either point a link from your existing website to the new Customer Self-Service system or give your customers a direct link to the new address.
