ACCTivate! gets 'Awesome Add-on' recognition again!

The Sleeter group names ACCTivate! a 2008 'Awesome QuickBooks Add-on'

Las Vegas, Nevada (October 24, 2007) -

ACCTivate! was honored by the nation's largest community of QuickBooks professionals, The Sleeter Group, with the recognition of "Awesome QuickBooks Add-On" for 2008.

Ron Souder, CEO and President of Alterity, Inc. accepted this award at Sleeter's annual accounting software consulting conference on October 24 in Las Vegas.

At the conference Ron and ACCTivate! sales representative, Ryan Moeller also exhibited ACCTivate! to over 750 Accountants, Bookkeepers, CPAs and QuickBooks & Accounting Software Consultants.

Receiving this recognition is a great honor as only 13 out of over 300 QuickBooks add-ons reviewed by the Sleeter group were named "Awesome Add-ons."

All 13 add-ons selected are also part of the Intuit Developer Network, in which ACCTivate! holds Gold Developer Status. This status means that ACCTivate! is acknowledged as a leading developer of business software that integrates to QuickBooks.

"ACCTivate! is awesome because it fills a niche that many QuickBooks users need,"  Doug Sleeter, founder of The Sleeter Group said.

"ACCTivate! is one of the best add-ons because of its superior integration with QuickBooks, its overall design, outstanding features and conformance with appropriate accounting standards," Sleeter said.

The following factors were taken into consideration by the Sleeter Group when selecting the software that deserved the "Awesome Add-on" name:

  • Superior design, implementation and features

Security change in QuickBooks affects ACCTivate! users

Important note for users upgrading to QuickBooks 2008/8.0

Please read if you store credit card numbers in QuickBooks

Recently, we became aware of a security change in QuickBooks 2008/8.0 that will affect all users that store credit card numbers in QuickBooks, as well as those users that process credit cards with QuickBooks Merchant Service when creating an invoice in ACCTivate!.

With the release of QuickBooks 2008/8.0 Intuit has changed the availability of stored credit card numbers to third party applications, such as ACCTivate!.

QuickBooks will no longer allow third party applications access to credit card information stored in QuickBooks.

If you are using an earlier version of QuickBooks, you will not experience this problem until you upgrade to QuickBooks version 2008/8.0.

Therefore, we strongly recommend that you do not upgrade to QuickBooks 2008/8.0 until you have installed ACCTivate! 6.3. Otherwise, you risk having your stored credit card numbers corrupted.

If you are using ACCTivate! 6.3 and QuickBooks 2008 /8.0, ACCTivate! has a stored credit card number that can be used during invoicing. With 6.3 this number will be a copy of the one that was available in QuickBooks at the time you installed QuickBooks 2008 and cannot be modified.

We are working on a change in the ACCTivate! customer form that will allow you to maintain this stored credit card and expect it to be available quickly. We will continue to keep you posted on any changes to ACCTivate! related to this issue.

Please click here to contact ACCTivate! support if you have any questions or support needs concerning this issue.

Display dates properly in ACCTivate!

Change date format from 8 to 6-digits to display full dates in ACCTivate!

With the advent of October, some users may have noticed that 8-digit dates (MM/DD/YYYY) are not fully displaying in some ACCTivate! screens such as Lookup screens.

The first digit of an 8-digit date may not display depending on your computer settings. But don't worry there is a solution.

This minor problem can be resolved by simply changing the date format on your computer to display 6-digits (MM/DD/YY) rather than 8-digits.

Just follow the instructions below to change the date settings:

  1. Click the Start Menu > Control Panel.
  2. In Category View, click Date, Time, Language and Regional Options.
  3. Click Change the format of numbers, dates and times.
  4. Click the Customize button on the Regional Options tab.
  5. Click the Date tab.
  6. From the Short date format drop-down menu select MM/dd/yy.
  7. Click OK on the two open windows.

The date should now display correctly on all ACCTivate! screens.

Service Billing Module
Keep track of labor and materials for services and repairs

The capabilities of the Service Billing module
The Service Billing module allows any business to keep track of labor and materials for services and repairs. With a few steps it quickly and easily produces a service order for time and supplies used on a job.

Service Billing and Business Activity Management
The overall purpose of this module is to allow you to add both labor and materials directly to any service activity that you are tracking in the Business Activity Management module.

By tracking this and tying it directly back to the service activity, you can keep track of the service status, bill for services (if necessary) and have a history of the service as entered in the system.

Service Billing can work for any business

The Service Billing module is designed to help make a wide variety of sales and service businesses more efficient and productive.

  • Home Appliance Installation
  • Repair Shop Service
  • Plumbing and HVAC Service Calls
  • Network & Phone Service
  • Home Entertainment Installation
  • Consulting Work
  • and more

Example Scenario
Let's say that work was performed on a service call where replacement parts were covered under warranty, but the labor was not covered.

Begin by tracking this service call as a business activity, then you will have a complete record of this issue from the time the customer calls with the problem until after the service tech leaves after having completed the repair work.

The best part about the system is that when the service technician reports back the amount of labor to bill the customer, it is entered directly to the same business activity and you can quickly make a service bill for the work done on this call.

Service Billing is another module that can help your business increase productivity and operate more smoothly.
