National euphoria ~ 2010 FIFA World Cup

Justin Holmes,
ACCTivate! South Africa Manager
For a little over a year my company, EasyBiz in South Africa has been distributing and supporting ACCTivate! in South Africa and
Sub-Saharan Africa.
We have three offices in South Africa - one in Cape Town, another in Durban and our main location in Johannesburg - all venues of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Johannesburg, where I reside and work is the only host city to provide two venues. Soccer City is about 30 minutes from our office and Ellis Park is about 15 minutes away. So as you can see we are in the center of it all.
The atmosphere in South Africa is being described as "national euphoria not seen since the release of Nelson Mandela" and that is exactly what I'm witnessing here.
I'm not much of a football fan, but the whole hype has caught me and I'm loving it. I've gone to two matches and the atmosphere was amazing. I saw Brazil play Korea at Ellis Park, where there were 53,316 people in attendance; and witnessed the match played by Germany and Ghana at Soccer city with 83,619 fans.
The matches I attended had big screen televisions, so you could not only see the match being played at the stadium, but all the other matches being played as well. I must say that was an experience, everybody jumping up and down and going mad as goals were scored.
The excitement is everywhere, even within our workplace. All of us here at EasyBiz were given a football jersey to show support for our national team, Bafana Bafana.
On the day of the opening match, June 11, EasyBiz closed early, as did many businesses in South Africa because the whole country came to a stand still. It's amazing how much impact the World Cup has on our country and all the positives it has brought us.
I'm so proud of my country, as is everyone in South Africa. Nearly every house and car is flying the South African flag. It's great!
Ayoba!
